Looking for career guidance in Malta? Whether you're a student, jobseeker, or considering a career change, several national organisations and educational institutions provide education and career guidance, as well as job preparation support. Explore the options below to find the right support for your journey.  

Guidance Units within compulsory schools 

All students in Malta’s state, church, and independent schools have access to career guidance through school-based services: 


National Students’ Wellbeing Services (Wellbeing Services)

Students attending compulsory state schools can access career guidance by contacting the career guidance services within their respective school or by contacting the Wellbeing Services Directorate.

Secretariat for Catholic Education 

Link: Visit Career Advisory Page. Students attending church schools can access career guidance by contacting the career guidance services within their respective school.


Independent and International Schools 

Independent and international schools also provide internal career guidance or career advisory services, which students can access by speaking to the designated staff within their respective school.


Career Guidance in Post-Secondary Education Institutions
Many post-secondary education institutions provide one-to-one career guidance for both prospective and current students


MCAST – Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology

MCAST offers various career guidance services such as one-to-one sessions, either at MCAST Paola or online, presentations and talks to prospective students at secondary schools, participation in career fairs, hosting visits of prospective students at MCAST campuses and participation in radio and tv programmes.  MCAST holds open evenings for the general public with the opportunity of access to career guidance services

University of Malta (UM) 

Prospective students can book an appointment to discuss the different career paths and studies at the University of Malta with a Student Advisor. One to one and online appointments may be booked through www.um.edu.mt/sas/appointments

Institute for Education (IfE) 

The IfE supports professionals working in education and related fields with children and young people, as well as individuals seeking to enter these professions. Through the Student Affairs Office, prospective students can receive personalised guidance on study programmes and related career prospects.

One-to-one guidance sessions are available face-to-face or online by contacting ife.admissions@ilearn.edu.mt


Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) 

The Career Guidance Service at ITS provides free, confidential, one-to-one, as well as group sessions, for current and prospective students, supporting them in making informed choices about study programmes, careers, and lifelong learning. It also delivers school orientation visits, information talks, and collaboration with stakeholders, mainly the tourism and hospitality industry, as well as, educational partners. This collaboration is done to ensure a holistic, and person-centred approach to foster awareness, employability, and ethical professional growth.

National Career Guidance Services


Malta Career Guidance Association (MCGA)

MCGA offer career sessions for clients whose requests fall outside the scope of the services provided by the other NCGN members.

Lifelong Learning Services
