SkillScape 2025 brought together leaders from education, industry, public administration, and the public to discuss how Malta can navigate change through stronger skills, learning systems, and strategic foresight.
Centred on the theme “State of Flux,” this year’s edition explored how global megatrends, from artificial intelligence and demographic shifts to climate transitions and new social expectations, are reshaping Malta’s labour market and society. The conference reaffirmed that, in a rapidly changing environment, learning remains the most powerful driver of resilience and preparedness.
SkillScape opened with a Learning 360 session, a high-level panel designed to frame the day’s discussions. Speakers explored how ongoing transitions are redefining the way people work and learn, emphasising Malta’s need to remain agile, future-focused, and collaborative. The panel underscored that continuous learning is essential for shaping Malta’s long-term readiness and competitiveness.
After this session, the conference shifted to a human-centred perspective. The discussion highlighted how people adapt when the world around them keeps changing, and how resilience, support systems, and emotional wellbeing help individuals remain grounded throughout different life stages. The session reinforced the importance of lifelong learning and emotional intelligence in navigating uncertainty.
Among the most impactful moments of the conference were the keynote contributions from Ms Deanne Raseta and Dr Patrick Noack, Executive Director for Future Foresight and Imagination at the Dubai Future Foundation, offering powerful global insight into the future of leadership and skills.
The agenda progressed with the Skills Spotlight and a series of thematic breakout workshops. The Skills Spotlight featured five entities sharing projects that directly support skills development. Their contributions showcased concrete initiatives driving innovation and fostering stronger alignment between education, industry, and community needs.
On the other hand, the breakout workshops offered a rounded exploration of how people navigate learning, work, and career development in a rapidly changing environment. Through data-driven insights, future-oriented scenarios, and practical reflections, participants examined the factors shaping today’s workforce and the opportunities emerging for tomorrow.
The National Skills Council extends its appreciation to all speakers and participants who contributed to this year’s conference. SkillScape 2025 reaffirmed Malta’s collective commitment to building a future-ready workforce, one that is resilient, adaptable, and empowered through learning.
