The National Skills Council (NSC) and Arts Council Malta (ACM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to raise awareness about emerging careers in the arts and creative industries. This partnership is a significant part of the NSC’s "Ready to Dream, Learn, and Succeed" campaign, reflecting our commitment to equipping Malta’s workforce with the skills required for a dynamic future.
This collaboration focuses on identifying new career opportunities in the arts sector, addressing the twin transitions of green and digital trends, and promoting essential future skills like creativity and adaptability. Together, NSC and ACM aim to integrate creativity into learning endeavours, fostering innovation, critical thinking, and cross-sector creativity that aligns with Malta's evolving skills landscape.
Dr. Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Executive Chairman of the National Skills Council, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating: “Through this partnership, we aim to bridge the gap between creative industries and skills development. By working closely with Arts Council Malta, we can support the development of careers that thrive on creativity and innovation, while also addressing the broader trends of green and digital transitions. Our goal is to empower individuals with the adaptability and creative capacity to succeed in a rapidly changing world.”
The MoU outlines plans for joint efforts, including organising events and developing educational initiatives that highlight the potential of the arts as a career pathway and creativity as a transversal skill. This includes past events like the SkillScape Malta Business Brunch, where we emphasised the role of creativity in the workplace. Looking ahead, NSC and ACM will co-host an interactive roundtable discussion at the State of the Arts National Symposium on 24th October, exploring the future of careers in the cultural and creative sectors.
Mary Ann Cauchi, Director of Funding & Strategy at Arts Council Malta, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Working alongside NSC enables us to expand the reach of our Artworks Campaign, making the arts a central part of Malta's skills development strategy. Together, we can create opportunities that blend creativity with academic and vocational growth, ensuring the arts play a vital role in career development.”
The collaboration also includes joint social media campaigns to illustrate how creativity can be applied across various sectors. This partnership is designed to enrich Malta’s workforce with the skills to innovate and adapt, ensuring a thriving future for the arts and beyond. 🌿💻
